The Victim/Witness Advocacy Program has been established to provide social services to violent crime victims and witnesses. An advocate is available to assist with difficulties which may arise as the result of victimization. The Peoria Police Department recognizes that victims are often the key people involved with the solution of a crime and that the Criminal Justice System is dependent upon the aid of victims to hold the criminal accountable. Therefore, the Victim/Witness Advocate Program ensures that victims and witnesses are treated with fairness, compassion and dignity throughout all aspects of the Criminal Justice System.
