The City of Peoria values its businesses and wants to provide information to help with business growth and expand in the area. This page will provide information on or links to:
The City offers a One Stop Shop every Monday at 1:30 p.m. in the Twin towers, 456 Fulton St. Room ____. This program helps business to find out in advance if there are areas of their plans that don’t fit in with certain city codes, ordinances or zones. It is very important for a business to find out this information prior to getting started on their project or during any stage of their project. One Stop has saved a number of businesses from losing money by not knowing all the “rules” for doing business in the City. No appointment necessary just stop in any Monday at 1:30.
Business Development Fund – A low interest loan program for businesses. One can borrow $10,000 to $150,000 based on job creation/retention.
Enterprise Zone – If your business is located in an area known as an Enterprise Zone and you do any renovations or new construction, the building materials and capital equipment purchases would be sales tax exempt.
The City works closely with other partners that aid in the growth of small business. Below are links to the various partners with a brief description as to what services they provide:
Bradley University’s Turner Center for Entrepreneurship
Illinois Business Financial Services – (our local SBA (Small Business Administration) Office)

S.C.O.R.E – Counselors to America’s Small Business
The goal of the City is to help all businesses to grow and prosper. We value our community and want a city where businesses would be proud to be located. Our Economic Development Office is dedicated to assisting with these efforts.
