The construction or replacement of sidewalk or drive approach in the public right-of-way requires approval from the City of Peoria Public Works Department. Work performed without proper permits and inspections are subject to removal and replacement upon notification at no cost to the city.

The permit to remove and replace a drive approach and/or sidewalk may be obtained through the inspector or by calling the contact information provided on this page. If a new drive approach is to be constructed or an existing approach is to be relocated, widened or otherwise altered, a site plan must be submitted and approved by both the Planning Department and the Public Works Department. Site plans, along with contractor information, may be submitted to the Public Works Right-Of-Way Permits Division.

Inspection is required prior to pour.

New Residential Construction

If the sidewalk and/or drive approaches are installed as part of a new residential construction, permits are issued as part of the building permit process.  Applicants must submit an address-permits request form to the Right-Of-Way Permit Section of Public Works prior to obtaining building permits.

Contractor Requirements

Sidewalk and drive approach permits will only be issued to those contractors licensed by the City of Peoria for work in the right-of-way. Sidewalk and drive approach licenses require proof of a $10,000 bond.
