Subject: City of Peoria Rain Barrel Program

The deadline to order rain barrels from the City of Peoria is quickly approaching. Rain barrels are available to Peoria residents at a reduced rate from the City of Peoria Public Works Department.

Orders and payment must be placed in the City Treasurer’s office located at City Hall, 419 Fulton Street, Room 100 (Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM) by August 13th.

A rain barrel collects and conserves water from the downspout of a home, shed or other building. The stored rainwater can be used for any non-potable purpose such as watering gardens, lawns or compost bins. Rain barrels are ideal for areas that are not conveniently located near a traditional water source and they save money on water bills. They make great gifts for gardeners.

The rain barrels provided by the City are made from recycled black plastic barrels and hold approximately 55 gallons of water. Each barrel costs $52.92 (includes sales tax).
