Subject: RAIN BARREL PROGRAM SECOND SHIPMENT
Because of the outstanding response to the City of Peoria Public Works Department’s rain barrel program, the City is taking orders for a second shipment. This program provides low cost, non-refundable rain barrels and accessories to the residents of the City of Peoria.
A rain barrel collects and conserves the water from the down spout of a home, shed or other building. The stored rainwater can be used for any non-potable purpose such as watering gardens, washing cars or bathing pets. The rain barrels provided by the City are made from recycled black plastic barrels and hold approximately 55 gallons of water. Each barrel costs $52.92 (includes sales tax). Other optional accessories, such as hoses and down spout connectors, are also available.
The City will be accepting advance orders for the second shipment until August 14, 2009. Orders received after the deadline will not be guaranteed until the next shipment. Those citizens who have placed an order will receive payment and pick-up instructions at that time.
Go to www.ci.peoria.il.us/rainbarrels for ordering information. Brochures and order forms are also available in the Public Works Department, 419 Fulton Street, Room 307 or by calling (309)494-8800.
