INSPECTION PROGRAM

 
• Properties subject to inspection will not be inspected more often than every three years and at least once every seven years.

• There is no charge for the initial inspection and one reinspection. However, if subsequent inspections are required, a $100 inspection fee will be charged for each unit that is reinspected.

• In addition to inspections being performed by City inspectors, interior life safety inspections by the landlord and tenant will be required prior to occupancy or at least once a year, whichever is more frequent.

• An inspection form from the landlord and tenant inspection will be retained by the landlord and provided to the City upon request. Failure to produce the inspection form will result in fines being assessed.

• Properties with 12 or more units will not have to conduct a self inspection. The Peoria Fire Department does annual inspections on properties with more than twelve units.
