Peoria Disposal Company (PDC) is the contracted residential waste hauler for the City of Peoria.  Trash and yard waste collection is provided weekly for residents within the City limits who reside in single or up to 4-family unit homes.  For more information, download PDC's Waste Collection Guide. 

Yard Waste Collection

Yard waste collection is offered April 1st through November 30th, on a weekly basis and on the same day as other household garbage collection.

Free “Yard Waste Only” stickers are available at Peoria area Fire Stations, City Hall (419 Fulton Street, Room #111) and the City of Peoria Operations & Maintenance facility (3505 N. Dries Lane).

Yard waste includes: grass, leaves, limbs and/or brush ONLY.  Do NOT mix yard waste with household waste or animal waste.

Yard waste MUST be set out in one of the following methods:

  • 30-gallon biodegradable paper yard waste bags. 50 lb. weight limit applies.
  • Maximum 32-gallon garbage cans with yard waste sticker attached. 50 lb. weight limit applies.
  • Cut and tied in bundles less than 4-foot long, weighing less than 50 lbs.
  • Use rope or twine only to bundle. Items bundled with plastic or wire are not accepted.

 

Recycling

Curbside recycling service is available through Peoria Disposal Company.  For more information, call (309) 674-5176 or go to www.pdcarea.com/htm/pdcServices.htm.  For recycling drop-off locations, call Peoria County's Recycling and Resource Conservation office at (309) 672-6932.

Holidays

If an observed holiday falls on a weekday (Monday through Friday), then trash collection will be delayed by one (1) day.  The following six (6) holidays are observed by Peoria Disposal Company and Waste Management: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Garbage Fee

Garbage collection, yard waste collection and recyclables collection is currently provided to Peoria residential customers through a contract with PDC. To offset a portion of the cost for these services, the City includes a fee of $13.00 per month on the Illinois American Water Company bill. Questions concerning this fee can be directed to the City's Garbage Fee Hotline at (309) 494-8807.

Under the City's contract with PDC, they are permitted to sell or rent trash carts for refuse and yard waste and to charge a deposit on the cart for participation in the City's recyclables collection program. Nuisance Abatements

Call the City of Peoria Code Enforcement Office to report accumulation of garbage or loose junk on someone's private property.

Road Kill Removal

To report dead animals in the street or alley:

PDC will pick up dead animals on city right-of-ways within 24 hours of notice during business hours, Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM.
