Commissions Supported by Office

Fair Employment & Housing Commission (FEHC)

The purpose of the Fair Employment & Housing Commission is to serve as an instrument of government, empowered by the City's municipal code, to exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to the protection of the public welfare in the matter of fair employment, fair housing and public accommodations. The FEHC has the authority to monitor City fair practice policies and procedures, while providing a forum through which the citizens of Peoria may be provided access to equality of treatment and opportunity, regardless of protected class status.

The FEHC consists of seven members. The Commission is composed of both male and female citizens and is broadly representative of the religious, ethnic and economic groups of the City. The Commissioners serve three year staggered terms ending June 30 of each year. Staff support is provided by the Equal Opportunity Office.

The Fair Employment & Housing Commission meets on the first Thursday of each month in Peoria City Hall. The current Chairperson of FEHC is Commissioner Jannise Bush.
