The Department of Economic Development manages three façade improvement programs.  The goal of these programs is to improve the visual appearance of businesses and properties within certain targeted areas.  The outcome is not only for the individual business, but for all the businesses and visitors to an area.  All façade programs reimburse the applicant for half of eligible costs up to a certain amount ($20,000 cap for West Main and Historic Sheridan Triangle, $10,000 cap for Prospect Road).

West Main Street Facade Improvement Program

The West Main Street Facade Improvement Program is located in Renaissance Park. The City of Peoria wants your property and business to look as good as possible — and we are willing to pay half the cost. For every two dollars you spend on eligible improvements to your property, the City will reimburse you one dollar (a maximum of $20,000 in City funds for each project). This program is available for exterior improvements to any commercially-zoned property facing West Main Street within the boundaries (between University and Crescent; see below). Eligible improvements include repair, replacement or installation of:
Doors, Painting, Fences, Fascia, Gutters and Downspouts, Shutters, Awning and Canopies, Signs, Stairs, Porches, Railing, Walls, Windows, Roofs (if visible from street), Walkways, Lighting, Landscaping, Siding, and Parking Lots.

Historic Sheridan Triangle Facade Improvement Program

The Sheridan Triangle Facade follows the same guidelines as the West Main Street Facade.  The boundaries are the 2500 and 2600 blocks.  See map below.

Prospect Road Facade program.

The Prospect Road Facade program follows the same guidelines, except the maximum reimbursement is $10,000. 

The program boundaries are from Forrest Hill to War Memorial.  See map below.
