Illinois law bans the collection of appliances containing freon gas and mercury switches by refuse collectors and bans their disposal in Illinois landfills. When purchasing a new appliance, have the appliance dealer remove the old one. Some appliance dealers will collect old appliances for a fee, please look under 'Appliance Dealers' in the yellow pages for a list of dealers. Once the City's Code Enforcement Division has inspected the cistern, Public Works will provide free fill material to the property owner. Before the City will schedule delivery of the fill material or drive onto private property, a waiver must be signed. Waivers are available from the Code Enforcement officer at the time of inspection or by calling 309/494-8654.

A drive approach permit is required for any approaches installed within the public right-of-way. The contractor must be licensed and bonded with the City of Peoria for any work in the right-of-way. Failure to obtain a permit prior to installation may result in removal/replacement of materials at no cost to the City as well as a double permit fee. Peoria County Animal Protection Services (PCAPS) will maintain responsibility for animal nuisance calls such as barking dogs, wildlife complaints where the animal is sick, injured, or within the living space. SENATE BILL 1894, SECTION 25, Subsection 15-1503
Notice of Foreclosure. (b) With respect to residential real estate, a copy of the notice of foreclosure described in subsection (a) of Section 15-1503 shall be sent by first class mail, postage prepaid, to the municipality within the boundary of which the mortgaged real estate is located, or to the county within the boundary of which the mortgaged real estate is located if the mortgaged real estate is located in an unincorporated territory. A municipality or county must clearly publish on its website a single address to which such notice shall be sent. If a municipality or county does not maintain a website, then the municipality or county must publicly post in its main office a single address to which such notice shall be sent. In the event that a municipality or county has not complied with the publication requirement in this subsection (b), then such notice to the municipality or county shall be provided pursuant to Section 2-211 of the Code of Civil Procedure.
