HOUSING COURT:


Housing Court is a process for properties that are owner occupied or non-owner occupied that may have Housing Code violations, such as:

  • Interior - heating, plumbing, electrical, sanitation, fire prevention, etc.
  • Exterior - paint, accessory structures, doors, windows, etc.
  • Rental Registration - all  non-owner occupied properties within the City must be registered with Code Enforcement


A Hearing Officer presides over this process.  The Hearing Officer is an attorney appointed by the City Council to determine whether or not a code violation exists.

Housing Court is held each Tuesday afternoon at City Hall in the Council Chambers, Room 400 (4th Floor).  Each inspector has a set time when his or her cases are presented.

  • 1:00 p.m.        Glenda Williams, Patti McCartney, Roma Wallace & Sherry Carter-Allen 
  • 1:30 p.m.        Leon Abner & David Graham 
  • 2:00 p.m.        Lisa Rakestraw & Roger McChristian
  • 2:30 p.m.        Dorothy Taylor & JoAnne Jordan      


Property owners should appear on the date and time their case is set, as indicated on their summons or order.  To see if your case is scheduled during a particular week check the Housing Court docket, located on the "Weekly Dockets Page"
